Prospective Applicants

First-time applicants, and organizations who are not current grantees of the Foundation, may submit a Letter of Intent (LOI).  

The LOI process is two-stage.  Prospective Applicants submit an LOI (stage 1) in either January or June.  After LOIs are reviewed, only selected organizations will be invited to submit a Full Proposal (stage 2).  The review process may include site visits and requests for additional information by Foundation staff.  The Foundation’s Board of Trustees makes final grant determinations roughly five months after the application deadline. 

It is important to note these are competitive awards and we recommend reviewing the Foundation’s mission and the four Program Areas the Foundation currently supports (Education, Environment, Neighborhood Development, Youth and Families) by navigating to the Our Mission and Our Work sections of the website.

Timeline for the Fall 2019 cycle:

  • May 21, 2019:   LOI Application Open (link below)
  • June 21, 2019:   LOI Application Deadline
  • July 8, 2019:   Status notification emails to LOI applicants
  • August 1, 2019:   Full Proposal Deadline (for those invited)
  • December 2019:   Status notification emails to Full Proposal applicants

We can only consider proposals from organizations that have been determined to be exempt from federal tax by the Internal Revenue Service. Organizations must have a letter from the IRS indicating that they are exempt under Section 501(c)(3) and specifying whether they are a 509(a)(1), 509(a)(2), or 509(a)(3) organization. No grants are made to individuals, either as individuals or through a sponsoring organization.
