Commemorating 100 Years of Impact
December 4, 2024 at the Newark Museum of Art
Victoria Foundation concluded its 100-year anniversary festivities with a gala at The Newark Museum of Art on Dec. 4, 2024. Partners, funders, community leaders, and friends were in attendance to celebrate the Foundation's rich history.
The Foundation also distributed $2.5 million in grants at the gala. The Centennial Impact Awards were given to seven organizations in each of the Foundation's focus areas. For Strengthening Community Power, Leadership Newark Inc. received $300,000, and the New Jersey Institute for Social Justice, $500,000. For Fostering Economic Justice, FOCUS Hispanic Center for Community Development, Inc. received $300,000, and Ironbound Community Corporation, $500,000. For Promoting Youth Self-determination, Leaders For Life, Sadie Nash Leadership Project, and The Gem Project, Inc. each received $300,000.
In addition to the gala, several other events were held throughout the year to commemorate the Foundation's anniversary. In October, hundreds gathered at the Paul Robeson Campus Center at Rutgers University - Newark for the Newark Future Forum, a one-day symposium that featured local and national experts, residents, philanthropic organizations, and community leaders who discussed the pressing issues facing Newark and similar communities nationwide.
With the 100-year anniversary at an end, the Foundation is looking ahead to 2025 and a new era of philanthropy with community that places the voices, priorities, and the well-being of residents, local organizations, and other stakeholders at the center of its work.
