In 2007, Victoria Foundation contributed $1.2 million toward projects that maintain, restore, protect, and preserve the natural environment in order to ensure clean water and open space for all New Jersey residents. Half of these funds were awarded to the Nature Conservancy, New Jersey Conservation Foundation and Trust for Public Land to assist in the acquisition of three environmentally significant properties in the New Jersey Highlands that were in need of permanent protection from development pressures.
The Foundation is directing substantial support to nonprofit organizations involved in developing and implementing the New Jersey Highlands Regional Master Plan. Other grants target ongoing stewardship of conserved land, replenishment of the Garden State Preservation Trust, and the provision of technical assistance to environmental commissions, municipalities, land trusts, and watershed associations.
