| Victoria Foundation is a private grantmaking institution, which was founded in 1924 by Mr. Hendon Chubb in honor of his mother, Victoria Eddis Chubb. Since the early 1960’s the Foundation’s trustees have targeted giving to programs that impact the cycle of poverty in Newark, New Jersey. In the 1970’s, a second priority was initiated to protect the environment throughout the state of New Jersey. Within Newark, funded projects address K-12 education reform, neighborhood revitalization, and strengthening youth and families. |

| The Community FoodBank of New Jersey (FoodBank) is the state’s largest provider of donated groceries to charities. Victoria Foundation has supported the FoodBank since 1981. In 2008, the FoodBank shipped 22 million pounds of food to over 1,500 organizations in New Jersey, providing nutrition to over 500,000 low-income people. Students from the FoodBank’s job-training program prepare meals for 1,000 low-income children attending one of 15 Kids Café daily afterschool programs (six sites are located in Newark). In 2008, the FoodBank’s Kids Division distributed over 11,000 items of clothing to 2,200 kids, 253 schools accessed over $1 million in free school supplies, and the fairly new BackPack program provided weekend meals to over 1,300 kids.
